Sherwin Arae

Sherwin Arae is known for his quick wit, observations, and shockingly accurate impersonations, comedian Sherwin Arae delivers gut-wrenching material all while making you feel like you are sitting in his living room. When looking at Sherwin’s upbringing it’s no surprise he is now a comedian. Sherwin is Jewish, raised in an Iranian household, and attended American schools, – Does it get any funnier? Sherwin’s comedy career began at the age of nine when he started impersonating his uncles. Word quickly spread that Sherwin had this ability and calls started coming in from relatives overseas requesting to hear these impersonations. Although comedy was always Sherwin’s passion, education was very important in Sherwin’s family. Thus Sherwin obtained a bachelor of science in Information Systems, a masters, and an MBA. While working in corporate America Sherwin often found himself, yet again, impersonating others. What a surprise! Only this time it was his bosses, co-workers, even the executives of the firm. Nobody was off limits. After realizing that this was far more than occasional lunch jokes Sherwin decided to try his passion where it belongs – on the stage! The next day Sherwin enrolled in Caroline’s Comedy Class in New York City, taught by Linda Smith. Upon completing the class, Sherwin performed a five-minute set at Caroline’s on Broadway Comedy Club and blew it out of the water. Sherwin had found his calling, doing what he loves, performing stand up comedy. A few years later Sherwin moved to Los Angeles to further his comedy career. Since doing so, he has achieved very notable accomplishments, the likes of which include: hosting his own shows, headlining major comedy clubs, writing for well-known comedians, and most notably, Sherwin took first place in the Hollywood Laugh Factory’s Fresh Faces contest! What makes Sherwin so unique is his ability to perform for any audience – White, Black, Middle-Eastern, Churches, Synagogues – no audience is out of Sherwin’s range. Sherwin’s comedy is very relatable for any audience and leaves you wanting more. When you first meet Sherwin you think, “What a nice guy, he’s probably the owner.” But as soon as Sherwin picks up the microphone you realize he is not the owner, and you are in for a ride you will not want to finish. Sherwin currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
