Houston was a great city for comedy because there was a great comedy scene beginning to flourish and Jim Holder was in the thick of it performing with the best them! Jim Holder started playing all of the hottest clubs and colleges in the United States during the big comedy boon of the 80’s and early 90’s.

Jim Holder has traversed this fine country performing thousands of shows from sea to shining sea and sharing the stage with many of the great stand-up comedians.  Jim Holder has passed through every state in the union whether by plane, train, bus or automobile while hauling his jokes into every town USA leaving a path of audience destruction wherever he has performed.  Jim Holder is an 18-year veteran and has headlined comedy clubs from coast-to-coast. Jim started his career at The Comedy Workshop in Houston, Texas, home of the “Texas Outlaw Comics” such as Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks. Bill Hicks was the first non-famous comic the Jim ever saw live and it changed the way he thought about comedy forever! The Outlaw Comics didn’t look like comedians that were on TV, they resembled the old gunslingers of the Wild, Wild West. These guys owned the stage like they were rock stars! During that era of comedy, the audiences never knew what was going to happen next! It was from those early comedy influences that Jim Holder developed the passion for stand-up comedy that he carries deep in his soul today.

With an attitude aimed at making people laugh uncontrollably, Jim strikes incredibly close to home with his cynical descriptions of everyday subjects. His comedy is sometimes silly and hard-hitting, often spontaneous and interactive, but always funny.
