Bret Ernst

Bret Ernst

Bret Ernst was born in Brooklyn and raised in Miami, where he honed his comedy talents, while hanging out with some of the colorful local wise guys.  Brett’s hilarious take on growing up gumba will leave you laughing ‘til your side hurts.

Bret Ernst is an American stand-up comedian. He was one of four comedians featured in Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland, along with Ahmed Ahmed, John Caparulo, and Sebastian Maniscalco. Ernst has also appeared on the television programs Comedy Central Presents and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,.[1] He appeared in the 2006 MTV wrestling show Wrestling Society X as a commentator. Bret was the host of the first season of Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too. He also appeared in Ke$ha’s Blah Blah Blah music video. His Comedy Central 1/2-hour special was voted “TOP 5” of all of 2010, and his first comedy album “American Comic” was an instant success, breaking “TOP 10” on iTunes in its first week. Ernst is best known for his “Roller Skating Bit.” He currently resides in Los Angeles. Bret was born in Brooklyn and raised in Miami, where he honed his comedy talents, while hanging out with some of the colorful local wise guys.  Bret’s hilarious take on growing up gumba will leave you laughing ‘til your side hurts. Bret Ernst was born of German and Italian descent and he grew up in South Florida and is a graduate of Plantation High School in Plantation, Florida. Bret Ernst also played college football and is a graduate of Long Island University. He has two brothers. His oldest brother, Scott Ernst, was an established theatre actor who died at the age of 33. His youngest brother, Keith Ernst, is a stand-up comedian as well. Comedian Bret Ernst joins Oxygen as host of new dating competition series, “Love Games: Bad Girls Need Love Too.” Ernst can regularly be seen headlining at top clubs across the country, and has earned the sought after honor of marquee status on the Sunset Strip. This New Jersey native will next appear in his own half hour comedy special. Most recently his stand up was showcased on One Mic Stand and Comics Without Borders. He recently appeared in the Vince Vaughn feature film Wild West Comedy Show. The film documents Ernst with Vaughn and three other comedians as they perform to sold out crowds in a 30-night 30-venue tour across America. On the small screen, he has a recurring character on Weeds and has guest starred on CSI: NY. Ernst currently resides in Los Angeles. As an actor, Bret Ernst has yet to light up marquees. His roles thus far have largely been limited to wallpaper: “Pelham Boy No. 1” in CSI: NY, “Armenian” on Weeds, and the perennial favorite “Italian Thug” on something called Vendetta: No Conscious, No Mercy. As a comedian, however, he’s more than comfortable on stages large and small. If you’ve seen the standup comedy documentary Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, he was the Italian-American guy who was funnier than the titular headliner. A self-identified “guido,” Ernst’s ethnicity is important, because it’s an integral part of his life experience and, therefore, his act. Autobiographical stories yield to universal observations, from the Darwinian hierarchy of public skating rinks to the soul-crushing labor of working at Cheesecake Factory, with its “8,000” menu items. He’s also well-versed in pop culture, and like most comedians in the 21st Century, Ernst runs a podcast nerdy enough to belie his macho physique. You’re on the List, cohosted with Pete Giovine, features arcane and divisive top-ten lists on topics ranging from the Top 10 Cable Shows of All Time to the Top 10 Gangster Movie Quotes.
